Pattaya is nestled along a picturesque bay on the East Coast of the Gulf of Thailand, roughly 170 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. Unlike other beach resorts, where natural surroundings are used as magnets to attract tourists, Pattaya makes an all-out attempt to provide the best of everything, where a tourist can imagine while on holiday: recreation, entertainment, sports, sightseeing and fun.
Pattaya is a paradise for everyone, as it has a variety of attractions suitable for all types of visitors. This is the place where you can fill your day, from dusk to dawn, with endless activities, or you may choose to do nothing at all and relax. Pattaya is popular not only for its beach but also for entertainment, nightlife and shopping. not to mention a wide variety of watersports such as scuba diving, jet-skiing, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, etc. Pattaya can be reached in a 2.5-hour drive along Bangna-Trat Highway via Bang Pakong, Chon Buri and Si Racha. The Pattaya Viewing Point has to be one of the best free Pattaya tourist attractions, it's where all those classic photos of Pattaya Bay were taken from. The Pattaya Viewing Point is located off Pratamnak Road, South Pattaya, between Pattaya and Jomtien. Pattaya's downtown area is easy to get around. Running north-south, a few hundred metres apart are Beach Road ( First Road) Second Road and Third Road, Most reputable hotels will require the presentation of ID cards by guests and even charge a joiner fee (ranging from 500 THB to 1,500 THB depending on the grade of the hotel). Internet access is widely available in Pattaya, and speed and reliability of the connection is generally good; however, as is the case throughout Thailand, quality varies. The main beach of Hat Pattaya curves around the Bay of Pattaya. Along its sandy sweep are myriad things to see and do for holidaymakers with souvenir stalls, food stands, bars and a choice of watersports. Hat Jomtien just to the south is a relatively quieter option, while Hat Naklua to the north is the most family-friendly beach.
